“Whiskey, like a beautiful woman, demands appreciation. You gaze first, then it’s time to drink.” -Haruki Murakami, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
This is an oldie but a goodie from the 1930’s. There are several variations of the Brown Derby but we like the one made with Maker’s Mark. Experiment and try it with your favorite bourbon and let me know what you think.
The Good Stuff:
- 2 ounces Makers Mark
- 1.5 ounce fresh squeezed Grapefruit Juice
- .75 ounce Honey Syrup
- Rocks Glass or Martini Glass
The How To:
- Pour all ingredients into a shaker tin.
- Shake and strain over ice in a rocks glass or strain into a martini glass.
Note: To make honey syrup, bring equal parts of honey and water to a boil. Stir, pull of heat and let cool. You can store your leftover honey syrup in the fridge.
