Sur La Table just opened across the street from the restaurant and I am a sucker for kitchen gadgets, so this is a dangerous zone for me. I dream of the day when I have a HUGE, well organized kitchen and can stock it with all sorts of kitchenware. But for now, I have to be very selective with my purchases.
I stumbled across this garlic press (while Vaughan was of course checking out the espressos machines), in their “gadget” section. To be honest, I think Vaughan was just looking for them to make him an espresso cause we don’t even have an inch of extra counter space for another big machine.
Anywho, this little treasure works great! You simply unscrew it, stuff in as many peeled garlic bulbs as you can get in there and store it in the fridge. Then when you need chopped garlic, simply flip the cap, twist the handle and wah-la! And if you don;t use all the garlic, just slide the cap back on and toss it back in the fridge! It’s super easy to clean cause all of the parts come undone. And for only $11 you really can;t go wrong. The ONLY downside is when it is full, the handle is on the long side, so you need somewhere to lay it down in the fridge.
You can purchase it here.
